The St. Pius School X Advisory Board, together with the leadership team ensures, supports and directs the school’s mission to educate all students to learn, to grow, and to live lives marked by the Catholic faith, academic excellence, and personal integrity.
Working cooperatively, those in leadership roles, oversee global issues. This collaboration ensures stability, ultimately providing an environment that stresses Catholic identity, impacts instruction and learning, and addresses the full development of each student.
The Advisory Board provides direction and advice to the leadership of St. Pius X School in order to promote Catholic identity, academic excellence, and sound operation of the school. Powers are given by the pastor to assist in long and short-term overall planning in the areas of finance, marketing/public relations/advancement, academic excellence, and facilities management.

Lori Boghdan, President, Friends of SPXS
Lori serves as president of Friends of SPXS, having been actively involved with St. Pius X School since 2013. She has two children enrolled and is very committed to fundraising to help enrich the Saint Pius X community. Lori has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and works for the Department of Defense on an environmental cleanup program at Joint Base Cape Cod.
Jane Furey, Parishioner Representative
Prior to moving to the Cape in 2013, Jane was a forty year educator serving as a math teacher and principal at the middle school level in public schools for thirty-five years and ending with five years as principal of St. Mary’s School in Lee, MA. Jane is a parishioner at St. Pius X Church and is a member of the St. Pius X Women’s Society.
Kathy Mayo, Development
Kathy joined the Advisory Board in 2017, but has been very actively involved with St. Pius Community since 2011. She has served as VP of the Friends of St. Pius and has played an integral role of our fundraising efforts. Kathy has chaired our Gala & Auction for the past 7 years and has a proven track record in fundraising. Her background is in hospitality, serving as a General Manager for two private Country Clubs in New England. Kathy is a full time mother of two boys enrolled in the lower and middle school at St. Pius. She is passionate about the mission of St. Pius X School and Catholic Education.
Mary Durham, Parishioner Representative & Personnel Committee
Mary joined the Advisory Board in October of 2012 as a member at large. She is a retired school teacher and has taught at both the elementary and middle school levels. Currently, she is enjoying working with parents and faculty on the subcommittee related to academics and curriculum. Mary also serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board’s Personnel Committee.
Lou Grimaldi, Parishioner Representative & Facilities Committee
Lou has been a member of St. Pius X Parish since moving to the Cape in 1987. He served on the pastoral council in the 1990’s and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He recently retired from a 40-year career teaching high school mathematics, of which 13 years were spent in the diocese of Springfield. Lou is currently teaching part-time and doing some educational consulting. Lou assists the facilities committee and works with other board members to help ensure the future of St. Pius X school.
Amy Abercrombie, Teacher Representative
Amy is the Director of Technology, and the Technology teacher for PreK-Grade 8 at St. Pius X School, the Middle School Quiz Bowl coach and the Yearbook Adviser. She joined St. Pius X School in 2012. Prior to joining SPXS, she was an Information Professional Consultant with research/technology company LEXIS-NEXIS and Director of Research & Technology at a Boston-based executive outplacement firm. Amy has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Providence College and a Masters in Library & Information Science from Simmons College.
Ellen Goulet, Teacher Representative
Ellen is currently the St. Pius X School Middle School Religion teacher. She has taught at St. Pius X since 2004. Prior to those years, she taught Grade 1 at Holy Family Name School in New Bedford and Grades 5 & 7 at Maryknoll Grade School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mrs. Goulet graduated from Framingham State School with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. She received her Masters in Religion from Providence College.
Mike McCarthy, Parishioner Representative, Finance Committee Chair
Mike retired as the Assistant Commissioner for Administration for the New York State Department of Transportation after a forty year career in State government working for both New York State and Massachusetts. Michael chairs the SPXS Advisory Board Finance Committee. He has lived on the Cape with his wife Karen for several years and currently serves as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius X Parish. Michael and Karen have two children, an attorney working in Annapolis MD and an obstetrician working in New Haven Ct. Both are graduates of Catholic Colleges.
Mark Quinn, Parishioner Representative & Finance Committee
Mark is pleased to continue an association with Catholic education that began as an elementary school student, extended through high school and college, and continues through board service. Mark spent his professional career as a CPA, primarily as a partner with Ernst & Young. He concluded his career at McGladrey before retiring and moving to Dennis with his wife Elaine. Mark is a proud graduate of Georgetown University and of St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, where he has served as a trustee for many years. Mark believes firmly in the mission of St. Pius X School and looks forward to supporting the school’s continued success.
Gabrielle O’Brien, Parent Representative
Gabrielle was born in Kildare Ireland and moved to the United States 24 years ago. She has been living and working in the hospitality industry in Yarmouth for the past 20 years. Gabrielle and her husband Michael were both educated in Catholic schools and enrolled both of their children in St. Pius X School in order to experience the unique benefits of a Catholic education. Gabrielle feels most fortunate to have been involved in different aspects of the school while volunteering over the past ten years. She and her husband are inspired by the positive impact St. Pius X and Catholic education have had on their children and are happy to continue their journey with St. Pius X School.
